Medical Grade Needling

Medical skin needling is a minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars on the face and body. By creating controlled trauma in the skin, the body is encouraged to produce new collagen and elastin which assists in thickening and plumping the skin.

IS DERMAPEN RIGHT FOR ME?

The ideal candidate for the treatment are patients experiencing; premature ageing, skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, acne and other scarring.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?

Topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area prior to treatment to minimise discomfort. The treatment uses micro-needles that are moved over the skin to create tiny, evenly-spaced puncture wounds on the skin.

Various cosmetic preparations such as hyaluronic acid may be applied to the skin prior/post procedure as the channels created in the skin by the needling allows for deeper infusion of product.

The procedure stimulates the body’s natural collagen production by generating a wound healing response. This promotes the breakdown of old, damaged tissue and collagen which is then replaced with new, strong collagen.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT ?

Immediately after the procedure the skin will appear flushed and some mild swelling and tenderness may be present.

This will resolve over a 24 hour period however slight redness may last for up to 3-5 days post procedure. Some areas may become slightly dry and flaky.

Results are most visible after 5-8 weeks, where the skin will appear plump and rejuvenated due to the new collagen strengthening.

For best results, a series of 3 to 6 treatments every 6 to 8 weeks is recommended.
